Our range of activities include the following:-
Open Forums
We run open forums where members are encouraged to become representatives on health, environment and social services strategic panels.
Storytelling
We train ACVA members to become freelance storytellers and facilitators. We also arrange storytelling training workshops.
Trips
We arrange visits to different sites which may be of interest to our members such as museums, black cultural heritage activities and places of historical events. A trip has been scheduled to Turkey during May 2009
Publications
We collect and publish life experiences/histories or any interesting stories of ACVA members who express an interest to do so.
Health Tours
We will be conducting a series of road shows, talks and seminars for groups based in Hackney and Tower Hamlets during 2009.
The following health issues will be covered :-
-
personal experiences of surviving strokes
-heart attack
-living with diabetes
We will also carry out guided walks to NHS departments, surgical museums and herb gardens for alternative therapies.
